Professional dancer
Abi’s passion for dancing has taken her all over the world. In the last two years, she’s performed on every single continent (well, except Antarctica!), alongside some of the dance industry’s top professionals.
Her love for performance began early: from the moment she could walk, Abi danced. At the age of three, she joined Aspire School of Dance in Derbyshire, where she was introduced to, and trained in, a new world of styles and disciplines under the syllabus of the ‘Association of American Dancing’ (AAD).
As she grew older, she was handpicked to compete in national ballet and tap scholarships, and passed with Distinction many examinations in ballet, tap, modern and acrobat under both AAD and ISTD.
It was during this time of study and performance that she also discovered her passion for teaching and choreography.
At 16, Abi began dancing professionally around the country whilst studying a BTEC in Dance, and, after graduating with a Distinction, she was offered a scholarship by the prestigious SLP Musical Theatre College three years later.
During her time at SLP, she toured nationally as part of shows, pantomimes and dance displays. Her leadership and people skills saw her given the role of ‘Dance Captain’, where she was tasked with leading a group of young professionals and maintaining high standards of technique cleanliness.
In 2012, Abi graduated from SLP in style - securing a Distinction in her Trinity Diploma in Musical Theatre and also scooping a prestigious Darren Middleton Award for showing dedication, perseverance and quality of work. Within days, she had scored her first professional gig.
As the saying goes – the rest is history! Touring around the world, Abi is living her dream: performing professionally, and using the skills and experience she has gained from the industry to teach other dancers technique, style and equip them with the skills to reach their full potential.
She has choreographed and taught dancers of all ages – from 2 to 82 – and worked at many corporate events and shows internationally.
Abi is a working professional within the industry and with nearly 20 years of dance training she is able to teach and encourage children and young professionals of all abilities. Whether it is a fun dance class, or something with a little more discipline, Abi can cater for all.
As well as a dancer, Abi is also a fitness fanatic which is seen within her workshops. She is a big lover of bringing the performance out of a dancer as well as technique and strength.
Whether it's Jazz, street, contemporary or Musical Theatre, Abi can create a workshop for your needs.
She has experience of choreographing and teaching fun and themed adult parties, as well as choreographing for children.
